EcoCity USA: The Place You Want to Be

Submitted by Jerome on Sun, 06/10/2012 - 12:27pm.

What's it all about? It's about making St Louis the place you want to be, instead of the place you will leave as soon as you can. It's about making our city our intentional community. It's about building and rebuilding our community, including cradle to cradle cooperative living--, family cohousing, collegiate cooperatives, post-collegiate and worker's cooperatives, campus ministries, churches, and clubs, and retirement communities. It's about raising social capital and financial capital towards these goals.

Wash U's FIRST EVER Forum Theater Event! May 2, 3:00-6:30pm, Olin Studio II, Women's Building

Submitted by Jerome on Wed, 05/02/2012 - 11:32am.

The members of the Theater for Social Change class invite you to join them in an extra special theater event. Based on the techniques of Brazilian actor and director Augusto Boal, we have been creating plays and practicing “Forum Theater.” In Forum Theater, actors take the stage and perform a loosely scripted play for you, the audience. In the play, you will be able to identify several moments of conflict and oppression. Then the play will be performed a second time. During the second time, YOU have a chance to get up and try out different choices from the ones you saw the actors make.

Occupy the Midwest Regional Conference, March 14-18

Submitted by Jerome on Tue, 03/13/2012 - 10:22pm.

Please join Occupy movements from around the Midwest on March 15th, 2012 at 5pm CST at Kiener Plaza. We will march to the Gateway Arch for the first meeting of the Midwest General Assembly at 5:30!

We have chosen this site as our first meeting spot as it symbolizes much of what we are fighting for. The site on which it now stands used to be low income and working family housing. It was taken from these families in order to build this monument. We invite you to meet there and propose that we rename this monument as the Gateway to Freedom!

Occupy & the movement toward direct, participatory democracy, Saturday March 3 5pm

Submitted by Jerome on Sat, 03/03/2012 - 1:35pm.

Come join with good friends and fellow Occupiers, Comrades and neighbors @Ryan, Courtney & Paul's collective for an evening of good conversation and better company as we examine, discuss and debate future directions for the Occupy Movement and the greater movement for direct, participatory democracy.

We'll start the evening with a very brief intro, then a short film about the Spanish Indignados movement, followed by a very-loosely facillitated open discussion and debate period.
