Happy May Day!

Ian Darnell writes:
"Happy May Day!

Today is a day to remember a heritage of struggle and to recommit ourselves to building a more just and humane world.

Come to Cherokee Street to celebrate!

We have a range of exciting events from 1 to 8 p.m., including a street fair, discussion sessions, a rally, a film screening, and a concert. See the Facebook page for details.

Going to the march for immigrants' rights downtown? Wonderful! Justice for immigrants is very much in the spirit of May Day, and the organizers of the festival on Cherokee Street enthusiastically support the march. The festival will begin as the march is ending -- you should be able to attend both events!

Good news: They're calling for fair weather all afternoon!"
