Come out and spray paint a teeshirt to support Proposition A! We will have a limited number of white teeshirts in a variety of sizes, spray paint in at least 5 colors, and stencils saying things like VOTE Come and meet other transit supporters, enjoy free pizza and make a shirt! We will be in the back yard behind the building. We will be outside from 6:30 to 8:30, and following we will move indoors for a discussion and strategic planning session about Proposition A. Place: the Perry Co-op House, 6021 Pershing. Time: Tuesday March 16, 6:30-10pm. Facebook Event http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=354928393422&ref=mf (the date, Wednesday March 10, is incorrect). We hope to have a good turnout from local universities, not just WashU. If only WashU folks turn out, the press will ask "Wash Who?" and the Prop A opponents will play this as just so much WashU elitism, what money can buy. So please show up, Webster, Fontbonne, SLU, UMSL, everybody! If Prop a becomes a referendum on Wash Who?arrogance, elitism, and bullying, we will lose our public transit and acquire a reputation as a second class city. If Prop A becomes a referendum on a sales tax or taxation in general, our city will lose its place at the head of the line for a huge federal publci transit grant. If you object the way this will be funded, please take it up with your elected officials, and at the ballot box at the next election. If you object to Wash Who? pride and privilege, let them/us earn their/our privilege and their tax breaks. Let's give them/us a chance to do something good for St Louis. But we need your help. Wash Who? indeed. | |
let nothing come between natural allies
Please respect the grass roots, if you want the grass roots to respect you, and work with you. This is especially true if you are well paid and the grass roots are unemployed or underemployed. Please let nobody drive a wedge between natural allies: the taxpaying citizens of St Louis County and our not for profits, whose special status is not a right but a privilege to be earned.
if you tell the grass roots what to do it is not the grass roots
I sincerely hope that proposition a will not become a referendum on washu elitism, arrogance, bullying, and tax exemption, because that is the only way our opponents can defeat it now. Please remember what the british did to india, and what cointelpro did to the civil rights movement: divide and rule. Please remember, washu, webster, et. al, that if you tell the grass roots what to do, it isn't the grass roots anymore
