(Shevek's valentine's Day message to a Co-op student selected at random, and to all Co-op students, February 14, 2009)::

Dear [Co-op Student]

I, Shevek Nagarjuna Kundakunda, wish you a very happy Valentine’s Day, and all the love and respect in the world, on behalf of the man who adopted me. He does not know what to say, so he asked me.

He thanks you for being part of the Co-op, which he loves as much as he loves me. When I was little, he took me to every pot luck, and I would climb in people’s shirts, bite their feet, and dance with the little children! (When I was grown up, I just hid under the couch). He got me about the same time you Co-op students got “The Perry” as we know it now.

When he was asked the party game question, “What would you be reborn as?” he answered, without hesitation, “A fruit tree in the backyard of the Co-op,” perhaps a persimmon tree, or the black cherry tree that died. He is proud to have donated those, for Co-op students fifty years from now. He wants to watch the Co-op, its fruit trees, and its students, grow up proud and strong, like me. He thanks you for being a good steward of the garden we share.

I, Shevek Nagarjuna Kundakunda, hardly know you but you are a Co-op student so I know what he wants me to say.

All are welcome to our Sunday Co-op Pot Luck Dinners, at the Cervantes Co-op House, 6036 Pershing Avenue, part of the WashU Cooperative Network, housing the Washington University Cooperative Library and the Cervantes Free University.

Dinner is at 7:30. We may or may not show a movie, viewer's choice.

Cervantes Free University Open House is just before dinner, 6:30-7:30pm.
