According to tradition, it takes 18 years to learn Sanskrit, and even then you don't know it. You have to come back for another 18, and then another, and then another life, and on and on... Somebody has been posting a flyer, "Learn Sanskrit: It's Fun and Easy." My own flyer read "Learn Sanskrit: It's Fun But Not Easy." Pali, a canonical language of the Buddhists, is easier, but still difficult and challenging, especially when we read Buddhist religious texts. Ardhamagadhi Prakrit is much more difficult, because the grammars, readers, and dictionaries, if available at all, are not in English.

Start: 7:30 pm
End: 11:00 pm

All are welcome to our Sunday Co-op Pot Luck Dinners, at the Cervantes Co-op House, 6036 Pershing Avenue, part of the WashU Cooperative Network, housing the Washington University Cooperative Library and the Cervantes Free University.

We hope that soon YOU will host one of our Sunday pot lucks, for all our neighbors. The WashU Coop started as a rotating pot luck dinner group, and a social thought reading group, which morphed into a Green Council, and then a housing cooperative network, free university, and syndicate of initiative.

Monday March 22, 2010
