Thanks to all that dropped by for last week's cafe. It was a dreamy affair. This monday, round two begins with an open mic followed by a performance by WU's very own The Noam Chomskys. So, drop that heady manual describing the intricacies of X-bar theory, posit a universal grammar, and come join the co-op's very own syndic for one night only. We are the state! or something.
Show starts at 8:30. Bring along someone new.

Dear [Co-op Student]
I, Shevek Nagarjuna Kundakunda, wish you a very happy Valentine’s Day, and all the love and respect in the world, on behalf of the man who adopted me. He does not know what to say, so he asked me.

There are several food groups. You should eat some of each every day to be big and strong, so says the government! But have you been getting enough self-expression lately? Independent research says that it's loaded with amino acids and has a pleasant umami taste. And you're in luck! The co-op will be serving up a ton of it this monday evening. The open mic starts at 8:30, and then mysterious songstress Miriam Raziel will play from her project "Gathering the Sparks."
Come on then, join in our little monday celebration. I'm thinking hot coco for all.

We need to choose 4 student sous chefs to assist our campus chefs. We are running a recipe competition through this Thursday night the 18th. We are asking for vegan recipes using tempeh as an ingredient.
We will choose 4 students based on the recipes we have received by Thursday night to compete!
The winning team on the 2nd gets $1000 split equally amongst the team, meaning $250 each for 2 students!
I think this would be of great interest to the Co-Op!!! We need your help!

This show works a little differently:
Each person's playing a half-hour set, as is usual. The difference is that instead of playing 6 or 7 songs, we'll be playing 4 or 5, and we take the time to tell the stories behind the songs, what inspired us to write them.
The show's admission is either $3, or 3 canned goods, and everything from this show goes to the Food Pantry at Grace United Methodist Church.
If you go to one of my shows ever, this would be a good one to go to. There's like a 15% chance you will see me cry, if that is incentive.
Full lineup is:

This is it guys. Each week there is a monday, and on that monday we have our little cafe to celebrate the sort of stuff that we normally keep to ourselves. This week is no different, except that its going to be insane! I know everyone's itching to show off their stuff, and you'll be well rewarded for doing so. For this week, Wash U's finest band, Clive, is playing and it's gonna be like the thrill of a car accident without any of the injuries! Wowowow!
As always, open mic starts at 8:30.
Bring your nearest and dearest.
