General Information
The Co-op is The Perry at 6021 and The Larry at 6015 Pershing Ave. It is very close to campus, and even closer to the MetroLink. The neighborhood is awesome. It is filled with children, church-bells, and love. And there’s an ice cream truck (when it’s warm outside)!

In 6021, each apartment has three bedrooms and three roommates: one small room ($353/mo), one medium ($425/mo), and one large ($445/mo). In 6015, each apartment has two large bedrooms ($484/mo) and two roommates. Each apartment has its own kitchen, bathroom, living room, and balcony. Utilities (~ $40/mo for whole apartment) are split between roommates

Roommates will be decided upon acceptance. we have a variety of room sizes available. You will probably be living with current residents. Don’t worry; we are all super cool.

The basement has a common living space, kitchen with fridges, dining room with no record player but kickass record collection, performance space, bathroom, surprise/cleaning supply closet, and laundry facilities. We have a wonderful yard with a garden, compost, and rope swing (RIP).

We have potlucks every Thursday evening at 7:30pm. woot! We have co-op cafés every Thursday following potluck (usually starting around 9ish). weet!

Each co-op member joins one of two committees:
o kitchen committee – plans meals and shops for food
o grounds committee – maintains building and grounds

Each member does one chore woot! a week in addition to cooking and/or cleaning for communal meals a few times a month. Each member decides how many community meals per week they would like to eat (1 to 4), each of which costs $2.50, paid in advance, at the beginning of the semester. The amount of meals you sign up for determines how many times you cook and clean that month.

There is a small semesterly due that go towards building maintenance, kitchen and cleaning supplies, general upkeep, gardening, and parties. Mandatory weekly meetings are held, generally lasting one hour.

Cowabunga!

Residential Application
We would like to emphasize that living in the Co-op is a commitment to a way of life, a big commitment. If you live here, you are expected to be an active and enthusiastic participant in our community. It isn’t just another place to live; it’s a lifestyle. We actively seek responsible, dedicated, and positive (with an exception for brooding and mysterious) individuals with a great willingness to try new things.

And with that, begin!

More specific stuff

What do you think the Co-op is and why do you want to live here?

What do you think you could contribute to Co-op Life?

The heart and soul of Co-op life is our commitment to communal cooking during the week, but we also do weekly chores and hold weekly meetings. What is your philosophy on cooking and cleaning?

Have you ever lived cooperatively? How do you contribute to your current living situation?

What are your extracurricular activities? What do you do with your free time?

What has been your proudest achievement?

What is your favorite color? Be as specific as possible.

If you could choose to be any fictional character, who would it be?

Here at the Co-op, we hold potlucks every Thursday. Sometimes these potlucks are themed (for example, Professor Potlucks). Imagine we were holding a potluck where you could revive and invite your favorite dead individual. Who would you invite and what would you ask them to bring?

We like weird party themes! (Examples from the past: Math Is Hard, Aliens On Vacation, Mollusk of Choice/If It's Physical It's Therapy, Whales in the Sky for the First Time...) Suggest our Next-Party-Theme:

Write us a story in under 100 words.

Make a “self-portrait”. (However you want to present yourself to us, just make sure it encompasses the essence of your soul). You can email it to washucoop@gmail.com or drop it off at the Perry; just make sure it gets to us.

Come cook dinner with us!
It is required that applicants come over and cook dinner with us sometime before February 17th. Get to know us, we'll get to know you, come and see our apartments too! We eat dinner Monday through Thursday; cooking starts at 6pm sharp @ The Perry, 6021 Pershing. (If you are abroad, let us know, we can figure something else out).

*We also suggest that you swing by any Thursday for a potluck and/or Coop Café (music and storytelling!). Please introduce yourself if you’ve never met any of us before. We are usually Pretty-Nice-People.

Let us know when you can come cook:
